Introduction
From wearables and telemedicine to Peoples Health Movement (PHM) and Electronic Health Records (EHRs) platforms, technology proceeds to transform the healthcare sector. However, communication and collaboration are needed to successfully implement health information technology. Often, the staff is not involved in the selection and review process when healthcare institutions are implementing new technology and it can suppress their support for the new clinical solution system. As an informatics nurse, I will formulate essential strategies to successfully implement the new clinical solution system.
Implementing New Clinical Solution Systems
There are four steps of project management that I can use to formulate a plan to successfully install the new clinical solution system. First, I will create the right team when implementing the new clinical solution system. Before the new clinical solution system is installed, it is essential to secure support and engagement from every level and ensure they all comprehend the reason and goal of the project (Ray et al., 2019). I will also tap people from every level when conducting performance improvement tasks to ensure I am hearing and considering varying concerns, ideas, and perspectives. When they are engaged and comprehend why they are crucial to the transformation, they will be more willing to ensure the implementation is successful.
Secondly, the team needs necessary implementation resources, such as the provision of senior leadership support, which is a crucial facet of the performance improvement initiative. Leaders cannot expect change to occur without offering implementation teams the autonomy, time, and data they require to implement and assess solutions in their daily routine (Ross, 2018). Therefore, senior leadership must fully support the staffs who want to do a performance improvement project for it to implement successfully.
Thirdly, I need to leverage data to improve coordination and ensure the success of the implementation process. Healthcare institutions can utilize this data to track advancement in the implementation process and make the necessary changes (McGonigle & Mastrian, 2017). For instance, an analytics dashboard can be created to support the performance improvement initiatives of the hospital, enabling me to track KPIs and make changes along the way.
Lastly, I need to continue the conversation as it should not stop after the application. The staff will inexorably face problems when they start using the system with actual patients (Cresswell et al., 2017). I will proactively enquire from my team members about their issues and adhere to their suggestions if they can make improvements. In addition, I will be transparent with the staff and ensure they are aware that my door is always open when they want to enlighten me about an issue.
Conclusion
In conclusion, it is important to establish the groundwork for success now, irrespective of the technology being implemented in the organization. Technology will proceed to multiply and evolve as new equipment and the associated data proceed to integrate into the clinical and administrative workflows. By following these implementation strategies, I and my team members will provide value-based care, improve patient care, and obtain higher patient satisfaction.
