Interview

  1. What brought you into the field of informatics and technology?

    1. In our time, computer technology is increasingly entering all spheres of human activity everywhere at a faster pace. I have always felt attracted to innovative technologies since my school days. I developed soft skills in parallel with hard skills in working with electronic systems. I wanted to help people and I found the optimal model in which I could bring the greatest benefit and help.
  2. Why do you believe this specialty is important to healthcare?

    1. The field of medicine is developing at a tremendous pace. Innovative technologies such as artificial intelligence and machine learning are playing a key role in taking the medical sector to the next level. Additionally, a modern hospitals information collection and processing system should perform many different functions and automate it quickly.
  3. What are three key responsibilities in your role as an informatics nurse or technology specialist that supports healthcare interdisciplinary collaboration?

    1. Introduction of new technologies and systems. At the stage of development of an automated information system and implementation of developed or newly acquired software.
    2. Software accompaniments. Design or development errors are inevitably identified when implementing developed or acquired software.
    3. Information support for employees of other departments.
  4. What are the methods for collecting data within your organization?

    1. The system acts as a part of a single software and hardware complex, which is a set of personal intelligent terminals for doctors. By means of terminals organized in a single network structure, data is collected from various functional diagnostic devices, diagnoses, and various kinds of service information. The organization of workstations in a local network is provided by standardized means of the network operating system.
  5. What are the sources of data that you look at in your organization for quality improvement efforts?

    1. In communication with other departments and internal audit, the need for the integration of automated information systems is revealed, the creation of which must consider several principles. The implemented developments should become part of an automated health information system, provide for the possibility of exchanging information of scientific importance and create high-class expert systems.
  6. Is there any theoretical models or frameworks you refer to as a resource to support the best practice as it pertains to information technology?

    1. Observation of key market players allows for identifying trends and competitive advantages. Using the fail fast method allows you to exclude non-working elements from the clinics work system.
  7. Who are the key stakeholders you collaborate with to ensure data is disseminated and addressed?

    1. The heads of all departments are included for the full distribution of information and the convenience of communication.
  8. What are some challenges experienced in your role? How did you address these challenges?

    1. Often, the technical department is under-budgeted due to a tendency to underestimate the value of technology. This affects the capabilities of the department as well as the complete lack of basic skills in working with equipment for some employees.
  9. What is one of the most rewarding experiences in your role?

    1. The patients hospitalization time is now reduced due to the acceleration of the flow of information received in the computer network. Radiologists acquire images faster, which can significantly speed up the start of treatment. The health and happiness of patients is the most rewarding aspect of my work every day.
  10. What would be your greatest advice for a new nurse interested in the field of informatics?

    1. Learn to continually adapt to innovation as the industry changes and develops very quickly.

Reflection

Informatics and medicine together is a databases and software and hardware tools that automate numerous processes both in individual medical institutions and in the entire healthcare system (Kleib & Nagle, 2018).

Summary

In conclusion, medical institutions collect and store a large amount of data throughout their working practice. The role of informatics in medicine is very important since the well-being of the population and the level of quality of medical care depend on the effectiveness of the use of this information by doctors.
