The efficient operation of a mortuary depends on the kind of administration that manages it. Being a facility meant to uphold human dignity even in their death, the mortuary is entitled to offer quality services that are only possible with a good administration. An adequately administered mortuary should divide its services into units, with each unit having its management that ensures that the services entrusted to it are well rendered. The management of each unit is answerable to the top administration. The primary units of morgues include the reception center, the viewing center, storage chambers, and the bookkeeping unit (Chang, 2017). A well-administered mortuary takes into consideration the welfare of the workers in all these units.

The welfare of the mortuary attendants begins with proper training to ensure that they are fully aware of their duties and understand how they need to execute such duties. Different mortuaries offer different services in terms of the kind of bodies that they preserve. Some are general and receive all different types of bodies that have been retrieved from different places. Others only deal with the preservation of prominent people. Therefore, the staff must be trained to handle morgue operations according to their situations.

Apart from training, the workers must be constantly counseled to be unaffected by being exposed to emotional and horrific sites in the working area. The administration of the mortuary should also ensure that the management of all four sectors is well run. The top management of the mortuary should ensure that all the morgue attendants are well supplied with all the equipment they need. The morgue has various equipment that ensures bodies are well preserved. It is the responsibility of the management to ensure that this equipment is well supplied. Bookkeeping should ensure that all the finances of the morgue are well managed, and that the facilitys assets are under good condition.
