Research Studies

The first study based on the theory of Jean Watson is described in the article Watsons Theory of Caring in nursing education by Devi et al. (2022). In it, the author first analyzes in detail the features of the theory of Watson, highlights the characteristics, and sets the problem for research. According to Devi et al. (2022), Watson believes that care can only be done in a social setting (p. 1465). Consequently, the study sought to determine positive effects based on social settings regarding patient treatment. The second study is described in the article The Effect of Education Based on Human Care Theory by Elahi et al. (2021). This study aimed to determine what affects the education of nurses in terms of caregiver-patient relationships during care.

The Use of Theory in Studies

The first study focused on the practical application of the theory of human care by Watson. The created social settings were to define in practice the influence of aspects of the theory on the patient and caregiver-patient relationships (Devi et al., 2022). The second research used training and workshop, which, according to Elahi et al. (2021), were based on Watsons human care theory using a collaborative and role-playing approach and a 1-month-up period (p. 425). In this way, the influence of features of the theory of Jean Watson in the context of nursing education was studied.

Operationalization of Studies

The first study was operationalized to observe the possible effects of applying the theory. In particular, the setting was made with an infertile woman undergoing in vitro fertilization treatment (Devi et al., 2022). Based on treatment indicators and changes in the patients psychological condition, the data were measured. In particular, it was found that communication between a nurse and a patient allowed the latter to enter the health-healing-wellness phase (Devi et al., p. 1468). In a second study, a vital operationalization process identified the population sample with criteria such as women, married, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and age. A Chi-square test was conducted that provided the necessary data on the impact of education on the efficiency of nurses.
