Nurse Leaders (NLs) can use various models to empower their followers and ensure the targeted patients receive quality care (Gray, Sarnak, & Burgers, 2015). The targeted nursing model was observed in my working environment. The NL in our department has always been embracing the power of team nursing. The leader encourages the workers to form teams in order to ensure quality services are available to more patients. The specific nursing model was observed when a critical care patient was admitted in the emergency department (ED). The head nurse encouraged the workers to come together and offer quality care to the client. The nurses were allowed seek assistance, support, and resources from the leader. The involvement of different experts in the ED made it easier for me to identify the model. This paper gives a detailed summary and analysis of different models that can be used by health professionals to deliver quality nursing care.

Summary of Scholarly Articles Related to Team Nursing

Article 1

The article Home Care by Self-Governing Nursing Teams: The Netherlands Buurtzorg Model shows how team nursing models can be redesigned to meet the needs of the targeted patients. According to the authors, healthcare institutions should attract different professionals in order to ensure individualized services are available to more patients. The inclusion of different healthcare workers in the nursing environment will make it easier for the clients needs to be met. When the model it used adequately, the level of commitment increases significantly in the nursing environment. The approach makes it easier for nurses to form self-governing teams. Such teams will visit their clients and offer quality services. The author indicates that such self-governing teams in the Netherlands have managed to offer evidence-based care to the greatest number of patients. The teams will assess the needs of the patients, implement new care delivery plans, and schedule visits (Gray et al., 2015). The model can therefore be implemented elsewhere to improve the quality of patient care and support.

Article 2

The authors of the article Determining Workload and Size of Nursing Team in the Pediatric Emergency Department examine how team nursing can be applied in different healthcare setting to improve patient safety. The members of the team can assess and address the health needs of their patients in a timely manner. The article is aimed at understanding the unique issues that must be considered whenever designing a nursing team. The authors believe strongly that adequate or effective teams should be characterized by the right number of nurses. By so doing, it can be easier to minimize chances of burnout and dissatisfaction. That being the case, nursing working hours should be used to determine the number of caregivers who should be included in a given team (Rossetti, Gaidzinski, & Bracco, 2014, p. 217). The unique needs of the patients should also be considered throughout the care delivery process. When such issues are considered, the targeted facility will find it easier to meet the diverse needs of its patients.

Summary of Articles Related to Patient-Centered Partnership Nursing Model

Article 1

The article Toward Advanced Nursing Practice along with People-Centered Care Partnership Model for Sustainable Universal Health Coverage and Universal Access to Health acknowledges that every patient in a given society requires evidence-based nursing support. Advanced Practice Nurses (APNs) should collaborate in order to analyze the unique needs of the targeted community members and patients. When this model is embraced, the caregivers and nurses will come up with new values that can address the needs of the targeted patients (Kamei et al., 2017). Consequently, the APNs will come up with new social systems that have the potential to improve the life experiences and health outcomes of the targeted clients. The authors go further to explain why NPs and APNs should form new partnerships in an attempt to address the health needs of the targeted population.

Article 2

In the article The Partnering with Patients Model of Nursing Interventions: A First Step to a Practice Theory, the authors examine how nurses can come up with powerful interventions that are informed by emerging ideas and informatics in nursing. The knowledge can make it easier for the nurses to come up with powerful interventions that have the potential to support the diverse needs of the targeted clients. The authors believe strongly that the proposed model of nursing can be applied successfully in different healthcare settings (Moyle, Rickard, Chambers, & Chaboyer, 2015). By so doing, more nurses will be able to understand the unique needs of the patients and offer personalized care or support. The model should be guided by different concepts such as cultural competence and lifelong learning. These notions can be used to analyze the unique issues and problems affecting different patients. Nurses who embrace these ideas will eventually support the health needs of their clients.

Implementation of Team Nursing in the Department

In our department, teamwork has remained a powerful concept that informs healthcare practice and delivery. The NL is always ready to mentor the followers in an attempt to record positive results. The nurses in the department are usually supported using a relationship-based leadership approach. This means that the followers receive timely guidelines and resources depending on the needs of the targeted patients (Gray et al., 2015). The followers are also required to engage in continuous collaboration and exchange of information. Patients are also encouraged to present their viewpoints in order to develop new nursing approaches that can make the model sustainable.

The leader assigns various roles and duties depending on the nurses dexterities. The family members of the patients are required to present new ideas that can deliver positive results. The other unique aspect observed in the department is that of problem-solving. The leader acts as a competent mentor who addresses problems whenever they arise. The nurses and caregivers are encouraged to identify new ideas that can eventually improve the quality of nursing care (Moyle et al., 2015). These aspects explain why the hospital has continued to deliver exemplary, safe, and timely health services.

Recommending a Different Nursing Care Model

The use of a team-based nursing approach in the targeted department supports the needs of many patients. However, the nurses in the department can use a different model in order to improve the level of performance (Moyle et al., 2015). The proposed approach is known as the Nursing Practitioner Care Model (Kutzleb et al., 2015). This model is an expansion of the team nursing approach. The model encourages NPs to attract competent followers and empower them to focus on a wide range of issues that impact the health outcomes of a patient. The model goes further to deliver numerous benefits to the targeted patients.

The model guides nurses to analyze the needs of patients who are at risk, minimize medication errors, monitor sentinel events, and maximize safety (Kutzleb et al., 2015). Some of the major concepts embraced by nurses who use the model include cultural competence and critical thinking. Technologies are also used in order to support the needs of the patients. When the model is used adequately, the targeted patients will benefit from increased levels of safety, quality, and satisfaction (Kutzleb et al., 2015). This outcome is supported by the operational effectiveness associated with the department.

Concluding Remarks

Nurses have the potential to maximize the health outcomes of their clients by embracing the use of different care delivery models. Before identifying the most appropriate model, NLs can analyze the unique needs of their patients and the resources available in the department. This approach will ensure the selected model is capable of delivering personalized care. Specific issues such as patient safety, teamwork, diversity, and workload should be considered throughout the healthcare delivery process (Moyle et al., 2015). These considerations will ensure the right care model is selected to meet the patients needs. I will use these new lessons in my future practice to support the changing needs of my patients. I will also combine the most outstanding ideas from each of the above models to design a powerful nursing philosophy. Some concepts such as lifelong learning and cultural competence will be embraced in order to make me a skilled provider of evidence-based nursing services. Such measures will make it easier for me to realize my professional and personal goals.
