1. Why do you wish to study in Canada in the program for which you have been accepted?
Most people aim for a career path with an upward trajectory. Todays world is performance-driven and it is helpful for people to have an edge over their contemporaries. The MBA course will present me with a string of opportunities that can help me develop my professional career. Therefore, I decided to pursue my MBA program in Canada, because it is one of the most suitable countries compared to the other English-speaking counties and their curriculum is adapted to current events. Canada is also becoming increasingly popular among international students across the globe owing to its high-quality education, advanced education system, and reasonable tuition fees compared to other countries like the USA, UK, and Australia. While pursuing an MBA degree from Canada, I will get an adequate opportunity to connect with like-minded people from my profession as well as different professions. Moreover, an MBA acquired from a Canadian university will be appreciated globally and valued highly in the job market of Bangladesh. In light of this, I have decided to pursue a Master of Business Administration (MBA) program at the University of New Brunswick (UNB), Canada. I have applied and received multiple offers from various universities in Canada. However, I have chosen UNB due to its scholarship offer. Furthermore, UNB is one of the Top Ten Canadian Business Schools and its MBA program was considered the best MBA program in 2016 as per the online journal Canadian Business, therefore I have chosen UNB to pursue my MBA program.
2. Introduction and introducing myself:
I have earned my Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management from ATHE (Award for Training and Higher Education) & MA in Marketing and Innovation from Anglia Ruskin University, Chelmsford, The United Kingdom with a Merit position. I am proud to have this UK degree and I have been successfully implementing this degree knowledge in my current job in Bangladesh.
After completing my Post Graduation in the UK, I returned to my native country and I have started working at Phoenix Finance and Investments Ltd. Having worked for more than four years in this reputed Investment Company as a financial analyst, I have come to the realization that it will be very tough or difficult for me to manage higher position in my workplace without MBA degree. So, I want to overcome this limitation by pursuing a professional degree in Canada. This MBA degree will enhance and flourish my communication & negotiation skills, and analytical and leadership skills. I firmly believe that these skills will also help me to gain a managerial position in my workplace as well as to reach my maximum career potential. There are also better prospective careers with an MBA degree from North America, especially in such a financial organization, as the one I have been working in. I strongly believe that my proposed MBA program at UNB would conclusively assist me to gain this position.
3. What is your overall educational goal:
My overall educational goals are to learn the functions of business administration, acquire and practice leadership and negotiation skills, gain practical knowledge, solve problems and make responsible decisions in a global context. Upon completion of my MBA, I will return to Bangladesh to rejoin my current employment where I presently working and I will be able to provide change-oriented leadership by transferring my foreign knowledge into my national financial sectors. The MBA from UNB will make me qualified for applying for a managerial position at a Bank or Financial institution.
4. Why are you not pursuing a similar program in your country of residence or citizenship?
Universities in Canada are, undoubtedly, some of the best for pursuing higher education. Unlike universities in Bangladesh, Canadian universities offer the best academic support such as world-class teaching, research opportunity, networking, and online support. Canadian universities design their program with changing trends and bearing in mind their global utility. The proposed MBA program of UNB would be significantly based on case studies that businesses encounter contemporarily. Following the academic part of this program, I will be required to undertake an internship for 8 weeks, whereas Bangladeshi MBAs do not have internship requirements. Without a doubt, this opportunity would teach me to apply this knowledge in real life business environment. Although in Bangladesh, there are a few universities that are offering MBA programs, their education focuses more on theory rather than practical application. Furthermore, most of the universities in Bangladesh offer an MBA program for 2 years, and sometimes it takes more than 2 years due to an unstable political system, which is time-consuming. I am currently employed and would like to complete the course as soon as possible. Moreover, having a British degree and pursuing another professional degree from Canada will, for sure, enhance my professional excellence.
5. How will this program enhance your employment opportunities in your country of residence?
The Financial sector is one of the fastest-growing areas of employment in Bangladesh. I can, emphatically, say that the qualifications I would gain in Canada would be acknowledged globally as well as in Bangladesh. It would create a new horizon for my career progression in my current employment and within the financial sector in Bangladesh. Other than that, this professional degree will help me gain more knowledge about leadership concepts and analytical thinking where I can improvise my knowledge to handle multiple challenges in any financial institution or in any industry in Bangladesh. Hence, I believe, it would be easier for me to take any managerial decision promptly to manage the organization in a better way. Therefore, this MBA program is well suited to my job field and will boost me to achieve a higher position in the financial industry.
6. What ties do you have to your country of residence or citizenship?
I would like to mention here, I have inseparable ties in Bangladesh, my wife is studying Masters of Arts in English Literature at Jagannath University, Dhaka in Bangladesh. We both want to build our careers in Bangladesh. I have an offer from my current job with a high salary and a promotion if I return and rejoin Phoenix Finance & Investments Ltd. The management also granted my study leave on condition that I will return to the same company with a commitment to serve them for 3 years. Please, find the official letter attached. I was not intended to settle down in any other country, my intention was to pursue a quality education. Thats why I returned to Bangladesh after completing my master’s in the United Kingdom. Moreover, my parents have become aged and they will definitely need my support and care. They have substantial assets in Bangladesh which I will inherit and I will need to be in Bangladesh to take care of these properties as well (assets valuation attached).
I really believe that your positive decision regarding my study permit would bring me a bright future, an opportunity to learn, and job prospects, which would not otherwise be made available to me.
I had this deep feeling that I could not be successful without an MBA degree. This led me to consider pursuing getting a Master of Business Administration (MBA)
