The National Association for the Education of Young Children has ethical conduct that sets forth guidelines for responsible behavior and decision-making. Dealing with children in early childhood and education means making daily choices with moral and ethical implications. The statement of commitment acknowledges an individuals readiness to live up to the particular values and moral responsibilities of the profession. It is focused on the daily services provided to children and their families through infant and preschool programs, daycare centers, and child life surroundings. The issues involving children also pertain to all the specialists working with them; therefore, they have to commit to reasonable behavior.
As an individual working with young children, I have committed myself to further the values of early childhood education. Particularly, I respect and support families in their task of nurturing children. Families are critical in child development, and it is important to create good communication channels, cooperation, and collaboration between family members and practitioners (McNally & Slutsky, 2018). Welcoming families and encouraging them to participate in the program helps develop an atmosphere of trust through the relationships and partnerships formed. Being an early childhood educator involves listening to families, learning from them, and building upon their strengths and competencies to provide the best services.
One must hold in high regard the dignity and preferences of every family and work towards familiarizing themselves with its language and other formalities. The interaction enables me to guide children to grow with a sense of belonging to a family as a practitioner. Additionally, recognizing the role of families in making decisions for their children is valuable. Sharing information about a childs development and education enables families to recognize and value the present knowledge domain of the early childhood profession.
I aim to help family members enhance their childrens comprehension and uphold the constant growth of their skills as parents. Moreover, I intend to progressively foster key programs and form support networks for families by making it possible for them to interact with staff, other parents, guardians, community resources, and qualified assistance. Developing written policies to protect important information on childrens records would also help promote the familys right to privacy.
Commitment to staying informed of and maintaining high standards of professional conduct is crucial for any early childhood educator. It is up to my colleagues and me to assist the program in providing excellent services. This involves following all program policies and only attempting to change them through appropriate procedures within the organization (McNally & Slutsky, 2018). Violating laws and regulations results in disruption that may limit operations from running smoothly. Hence honesty and integrity are vital.
As an employee in this field, I stay informed, support, and cooperate with co-workers to meet professional needs and development. I have to make evaluations and recommendations to make judgments regarding childrens well-being. In some cases, it is more sensible to terminate the program for the children who are not benefiting from it and recommend better solutions. I plan to take other necessary studies to become a well-informed practitioner. Through research, advocacy, and education, an environmentally safe world can be created for all children to access their basic needs. In conclusion, it is important that educators are committed to exercising ethical behavior in the workplace to provide the best possible professional services.
