The National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) is an autonomous, non-profit association. The Board of Nursing in each state develops criteria for competent nursing care, and issues registered nurse licenses. It monitors licensees adherence to state regulations and suspends caregivers credentials who have engaged in risky clinical practice (Dickison et al., 2019).
