REPORT: In week 2, you chose a church from a Christian denomination (aints Francis & Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church and School. This church is located in Greenwood, IN) –other than your own if you are a Christian –researched the history of that denomination, attended the Sunday worship service, interviewed the pastor, priest, minister (or equivalent). Now, write a 3 -5 page double-spaced, 1-inch margins, 12 pt. Times New Roman font report based on your assigned readings in Doyle, your research on the denomination, what you observed during the service, your interview with the pastor or equivalent, and the contents of the church bulletin or newsletter, if available (you do not need to submit the bulletin with your report).This report should include the name of the church, the Christian denomination, the name of the pastor or equivalent, and a detailed description of the service. The report should include your religious affiliation, if any, and address the following:
What is the history of this Christian denomination (e.g., when was this denomination founded, by whom, where, why)?
Describe the worship service. What is the main focus? What activities take place? How do the people interact with each other?
What is the mission of this congregation? (Many churches have a mission statement; check the bulletin, website, or ask during your interview)
How does this congregation live out their mission based on what you observed, what you read in the bulletin or newsletter and what you learned during the interview?
What did you like about the service/congregation/denomination? What challenged you and why?
Be sure to cite material quoted or paraphrased from your sources —this includes your text books, the interview, the church bulletin and any other paper or electronic sources you use. Follow the Writing Instructions given above and refer to the resource titled “The Writing Process”(located in the Introductory module of Canvas) for how to write an essay.
