The most important part of statistics is accurately and effectively communicating the results of a study. For this lab, you will be conducting a statistical study of SNAP recipients from a cluster sampling based on Regions of the United States, discussing the results of a hypothesis test, graphing their results, and concluding which visual display best represents your data. Since the sample size is less than 30, please assume the distribution is normally distributed.
Lab Procedure:

Using Excel, perform the following statistical analyses:
Calculate descriiptive statisticsLinks to an external site.

(Video – 5 minutes) for each Region in your data set.
Two sample t-test with unequal variances in excelLinks to an external site.

(Video – 7 minutes) with Variable 1 as the first Region and Variable 2 as the Second Region in your data set.

Create the following graphs, with appropriate labels (See the resources below)
Generate a Cluster Column GraphLinks to an external site.

(Video 7 minutes) with the Mean, Median, and Standard Deviation of your two regions
Generate a double box and whiskerLinks to an external site. (Video 8 minutes) for your two Regions.
In a Word Document,
Copy the descriiptive statistics you created in Excel and past them into your Word Document. Compare and contrast the mean, the median, and the standard deviation between your two data sets. What do these values tell you about the shape of distribution about each Region?
Run a two-sample t-test (assuming unequal variances) for your data using the formula, the TI calculator, OR Excel. State the Null and Alternative Hypothesis that you are using for this test. Explain the meaning of the t-test statistics and the p-value. Give your conclusion about the test in context of the data of the lab.
Copy the graphs you created in Excel and paste them into your Word Document. Write an explanation of what the two visual displays each show about your data. Discuss the shape of distributions and the comparison of the two sets of data.
Please review the Excel Lab Scoring rubric for additional expectations: MAT308 Excel Lab Scoring Rubric
To submit, you will upload two files to the Canvas assignment link.
The Excel file needs to be uploaded as an actual Excel file (.xls or .xlsx, NOT a PDF)
The written explanation should be submitted as a .PDF file. For help converting a word document to a PDF, use Google.
