Essay Revision
In Part One, you will refine and expand your original essay. Use this opportunity to enhance your argument, strengthen your analysis, and address feedback you received. Here are the key areas to focus on in your revision:
Address Feedback and Improve Based on Rubric: Respond to the specific comments and rubric scores you received for your original essay. Think about areas like organization, clarity, and depth of analysis.
Enhance Formal Tone and Structure: Proofread to ensure your writing has a formal, polished tone and a clear, logical structure throughout.
MLA Format: Ensure your essay follows MLA guidelines for in-text citations, works cited, and general formatting.
Incorporate Additional Research and Expand Analysis: Add at least two new sources to deepen your analysis. These sources can be scholarly (peer-reviewed) or high-quality popular sources. Then, include two to three new paragraphs that build on your original thesis or a revised thesis, adding fresh insights and supporting points.
Guidelines for Revision:
Focus on making the essay more effective and engaging.
Use your new sources to bring in different perspectives or to reinforce your argument.
Make sure each new paragraph provides meaningful analysis and adds value to your thesis.
Grading Criteria: Your assignment will be graded on:
The quality and effectiveness of the revisions.
The relevance and integration of new sources.
Organization, clarity, and adherence to MLA format.
Insight and depth of reflection in Part Two.
This assignment encourages you to think critically about your own writing, refine your analytical skills, and understand the value of revision as part of the writing process.
