The other members of Ponyboys gang are Dally Winston, Darry Curtis, Sodapop Curtis, Two-Bit/Keith Matthews, Steve Randle, and Johnny Cade. Dally Winston is confident, brave, and mean. Darry and Sodapop are Ponyboys brothers, Johnny is Ponyboys best friend, Steve is Sodapops best friend, and Two is the oldest in the group.
During Ponyboys conversation with Cherry, one of the topics that they talked about was what main factor that separated the Greasers and the Socs. Ponyboy first thought that it was the money factor, but Cherry disagreed. She thought that money was only a part of it, and the main factor was the different set of values each group had. The Greasers are emotional, but the Socs are sophisticated and cool to the point of not feeling anything. Ponyboy and Cherry both conclude that the reason that they are separated is because its the amount each group feels, the Socs do not feel at all, but the Greasers feel too much.
Cherry and Marcias boyfriends are Bob Sheldon and Randy Anderson. They are both Socs, like Cherry and Marcia. They were also the two who beat up Johnny.
Bob, like Johnny, is a victim of his own family. However, his parents did not abuse or punish him. They did the opposite, they never punished him, which is even worse. Bob is very spoiled by his parents and is never denied anything by his parents. His parents let him run wild, putting him and others in danger.
Randy Anderson was Bobs best friend since the start of school. However, when Bob dies because of the fighting, Randy warns Ponyboy that the fighting is useless, and nothing good will come out of it just before Randy leaves and stops fighting. When Ponyboy becomes sick, Randy visits Ponyboy one last time. He warns him again and tells Ponyboy that he wishes that he never participated in the fight between the Socs and the Greasers. Randy explains that he let himself and his family down, and warns Ponyboy not to do the same.
