Undoubtedly, disasters are one the deadly occurrences that damage property and interfere with the livelihood of society. Some of the disasters that may affect the community include floods, earthquakes, fires, tornadoes, and severe storms. According to Morganstein and Ursano (2020), a disaster makes people lose their possessions and homes and face emotional and physical health problems. Disasters can make people have traumatic experiences in their lifetime as they are afraid of facing similar experiences.

The deadly and destructive 2017 Atlantic Hurricane Season affected many people in society. It was one of the deadliest and most costly seasons, which made people lose over 200 billion dollars. The events were unprecedented, and the impacts were beyond expectations and anything experienced before. Most of the damage emanated from three disasters, including Harvey, Irma, and Maria. Harvey made landfall in Texas, which was the first disaster that the U.S faced after many years (Malkoff, 2020). During the period, Texas experienced dire and unpredictable rainfall, which left colossal damage. The disastrous rain left the city in ruins since the clay underneath it did not allow water to pass through it. Irma and Marias occurrence made landfall, leaving the Island desolate and disorganized. Unarguably, the disasters left roughly a million people out of water and electricity.

Deadly disasters interfere with societys overall livelihood and progress as they leave behind tragic and devastating damages. For instance, during the Atlantic Hurricane Season, many people were left homeless and could not recover their lost property through floods and landfall. They are inevitable and difficult to cope with and respond to in the affected surrounding. Therefore, disasters are destructive since they disrupt the normal functioning of society through human, economic, and environmental losses.
